Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower), through its subsidiaries GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD), mounted a five-day relief operation from July 21 to 25, delivering 1,900 relief packs to communities affected by recent calamities in Bataan.
The relief efforts covered six municipalities—Mariveles, Samal, Orani, Hermosa, Morong, and Bagac—prioritizing the immediate needs of residents in both coastal and upland barangays. Company officials said the outreach program aimed to provide swift support to families impacted by flooding and harsh weather conditions.
Leading the distribution in Hermosa was GMEC and GNPD Reputation and Stakeholder Management Supervisor Joseph Chavez, who was joined by employees and volunteers from both power firms. The teams worked closely with local government units, community leaders, and beneficiaries to ensure that the aid reached its intended recipients without delay.
Relief packs were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Mariveles, as well as to LGU representatives of Samal and Orani. GMEC and GNPD also extended assistance to their partner organization, the Abucay Upland Farmers Association (ABUFAI), which works with the companies on the Bambusetum reforestation project.
“AboitizPower’s swift mobilization and collaboration with stakeholders underscore our commitment to being responsive to community needs,” the company said in a statement. Volunteers from GMEC, GNPD, and the beneficiary towns exemplified bayanihan as they worked hand-in-hand throughout the distribution process.
